Type of Workshop: Project using techniques taught in workshop

Vintage and antique rosaries are much sought after, not only for their meaning but for their beauty. The word “rosary” originates with the word “rosarium” meaning rose garden and plays on the notion of a “garden of prayers” or “little garden of the soul.” In this class, I’ll show you how to restyle that gorgeous, vintage rosary that’s been hiding in your dresser drawer, into a wearable creation that you’ll treasure. Using vintage (or new) chandelier crystals, I’ll demonstrate my method for glass transfers, as seen in Belle Armoire Jewelry Spring 2009, and how to safely connect these lovely crystals to a piece of jewelry. I’ll show how to make your own wrapped rosary links using pearls and gemstones. I’ll also show “beehive” wrapped briolettes, a perfect clasp, bead stringing, drilling and proper technique for bead reaming. Bring a vintage clasp and your box full of vintage jewelry findings and I’ll demonstrate how to attach them to your piece. We’ll also discuss good design and strong connections. This piece will be a treasured expression of your soul.
