    Do you love your junque collection? Sometimes you need to just shout out to the world “I’m the Queen!” In this workshop we’ll create a mixed media necklace that expresses what you are the Queen (or King if we have any male students) of for the entire world to see! We’ll create some collage bezels using quickset UV resin and your own vintage photos, paper, etc… Then, using quick set resins and push mold materials, we’ll create copies of some of your prized items like vintage buttons, buckles, toys, etc… to use in your necklace. Combine all those goodies with your collection of beads, chains and doo dads to make a fabulous one of a kind collage necklace! Sstudents will learn to work with resin, molding materials and some simple cold connection processe; I will also demo how to make a bezel from resin and vintage tin to make some one of kind elements for your necklace. Students will finish at least one necklace and a number of components.

    Kit fee of $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes all the resin, mold making and casting material to make a number of pieces, modeling clay, mixing cups & sticks, detailed handout, sand paper, rubber gloves, resin colorants, inclusions and vintage Lucite bezels. A variety of QUEEN words to use.

    Supplies Provided by Instructor:   A variety of items to cast, inclusions and colorants, an assortment of doodads to use, my own molds, glue for collage. I will have a few tools students can share.

    Supply List:
  • Jewelry pliers: round nose, chain-nose, and flat-nose
  • Wire cutters
  • Needle files
  • Dremel with drill bits, sanding discs and extension cord
  • A FULL apron to save your clothes in case of spillage.
  • Exacto knife and blades
  • Treasures: wire, chain, various beads and/or pearls, charms, found objects, broken vintage jewelry, shells, coins, etc... Jewelry findings like jump rings, clasps, etc…Vintage paper, photos, etc… to use in bezel collages.
  • Items to cast: buttons, shells, small toys, charms etc… I will have a variety of things for you to use and sharing is encouraged!

Optional: vintage tin/metal sheet and long eyelets with setter. Small jewelry hammer, small anvil or bench block. Dremel with drill bits, sanding discs and extension cord, dust mask or respirator
