Express your wit and whimsy in a pin formed with wire and beads. Learn wire forming, wrapping, coiling, beading embellishments, text and texture stamping, and how to make a pin and catch mechanism.
Optional Kit Fee of $35 payable to Instructor at class time includes: all sterling silver wire and sheet, plus beads and head pin to complete a pin.
Supplies Provided by Teacher: Use of Stamping and texturing tools, sheet cutters, metal hole punches, mandrels, copper sheet, emory paper, and beading pads.
*Students choosing not to purchase kit from Instructor must bring the following items:- 1 foot of 16 gauge “dead soft” sterling silver or copper wire.
- 1 foot of 18 gauge “dead soft” sterling silver or copper wire.
- 4 feet of 24 gauge “dead soft” sterling silver or copper wire.
- 28 gauge silver sheet “dead soft,” 1”x 2” piece or larger.
- 1 head pin - plain or decorative end (optional).
- Assorted beads, small to medium – a mix of sizes, colors, and shapes
Tool List - all students must bring:
- Round nose pliers
- Chain nose pliers
- Flat nose pliers or second pair of chain nose
- Flush wire cutters
- Ruler or soft tape measure
- Jewelry files – at least one or two flat files, medium to fine cut.
Optional tools: some will be provided in class, but bring if you have them
- Chasing hammer and bench block
- Dowels or mandrels in assorted sizes 1/8” to 3/8”
- Regular household hammer, medium to light weight
- Stamping tools – letter sets or pattern stamps
