Embroidered Vintage Lace Collage Sunday 9:00 - 4:30 $105 Kate Murray
Student Level: Beginner
Type of Workshop: Process and Project
Have bits of fabric and old lace, left over ribbon, buttons, seed beads and broken jewelry that are waiting to be used? Instead of throwing them away or putting them in a drawer and forgetting them, turn them into a vintage lace collage and create additional embellishment and color through various embroidery stitches.
The morning session will consist of creating and hand-sewing the collage background using a hand towel as the base. The rest of the morning will be adding the first level of embellishment: lace pieces, ribbon weaving and trim.
The afternoon session will consist of working with foundation embroidery stitches: back, satin, continuous cross, star, bullion knot, fishbone, French knot and herringbone. The rest of the afternoon will be spent embroidering the collage then adding additional embellishments of buttons, and other objects.
