Barbe Saint John is a self taught, mixed media artist living in San Francisco with her husband, herd of spoiled cats and Chihuahua. She has been creating all of her life and has a particular passion/obsession for jewelry from all eras. Barbe is particularly drawn to working with vintage, worn, found, broken, rusted and repurposed materials. She loves to take the old, forgotten, discarded, broken, rusted, orphaned and things considered worthless and turn them into wearable works of art. Like an archaeologist, Barbe hunts for these bits of forlorn treasure and discovers their hidden voice. Each tiny piece has a fragment of a story and a hint of a secret that longs to be revealed. Like an alchemist, she combines the tiny snippets of lost history to create a new piece with a new story all its own.
