These wonderful lace like scarves and shawls are called many things. I have named mine "wayward threads". They are made using water soluble stabilizer, laying various yarns, fabric strips, and ribbons on top and sewing a grid with a sewing machine. When you wash the piece after stitching the stabilizer dissolves leaving a fabulous lace like accessory. Students will learn how to lay various yarns, fabric strips and ribbons on the stabilizer, which combination of fibers work to make a soft drapey scarf, and not scratchy or " Old Granny" looking but modern and fabulous! The scarf will be 2 yds long and 12" wide or you can make two 6" wide, 2yd. long scarves.

Supplies provided by Instructor include: some yarns, ribbons, fabrics, etc

Kit Fee payable to Instructor at class time, your choice:
$15.00 kit includes the stabilizer, full illustrated instructions, some yarns, fabrics, and ribbons to supplement your supplies
OR
$25.00 kit includes everything you need to make the scarf including stablilizer, instructions, yarns, ribbons, and sewing thread. You would need to email me in advance to let me know the color way you would want.

If you buy the $25 kit you would just need to bring a sewing machine. If you buy the partial kit you would need to bring all of the items on the Supply List and a sewing machine.

Supply List:
-Sewing machine - only needs to straight stitch (several bobbins and needles.)
-A small extension cord
-Come with a color scheme in mind and thread to match - you will need bobbin thread to be polyester but the top thread can be glitzy metallic, rayon, etc.
-Special piece of fabric you might want to tear into strips, special yarns, ribbons or lace - need to be 2 yards plus 10 " lengths (if you take my shibori dyed ribbon class these can be incorporated!)
