Keum-Boo Metal Clay Pendants

Students will create a beautiful fine silver pendant in metal clay using rubber stamps, molds, and natural materials for their texture and design. After firing the piece we will learn the ancient Asian art of Keum-Boo, which fuses 24-karat gold foil onto a portion of the metal clay piece. This will be highlighted and offset by using various patination techniques to create an array of colors ranging from golden to blues and purple. The finished pieces will be beautiful one-of-a-kind pendants of pure silver and 24 karat gold.
Kit fee of $30 is payable to instructor at class time and includes:

A comprehensive tool kit
A variety of texturing materials such as rubber stamps, fabric, shells, and buttons. Molds, cookie cutters, templates, and many other tools and materials for working with wet clay, dry clay, the Keum-Boo process, and creating patinas
Supply list:
20 grams of silver clay
2 small paintbrushes – 1 flat tip and 1 pointed tip
Ruler
Optional:
Textures such as: rubber stamps with interesting texture, lace, texture plates, toothpaste cap, toothpicks, shells, leaves and other items from nature
