| Student Level: beginner | |
| Type of workshop: Process |
Want to incorporate drawings and photographs into your wax paintings? This class is the perfect introduction. We'll work with a transfer technique that works directly on the wax. Bring your favorite images in the form of fresh (less than 3 weeks old) black and white photo copies or laser prints. Remember; when you transfer images everything comes out backwards so reverse your image if that’s important (i.e. for text to be readable). Photo copies of line drawings and high contrast photographs work best. Inkjet prints will not work with these techniques. You'll be working on sheets of 6 x 6 or 5 x 7 clay board, so please size your images accordingly and bring multiples. You will leave with 2 – 3 finished wax transfers.
Supplies Provided by Instructor include: Use of Encaustic paint, photocopies, papers, crock pots, brushes, paper towels, wax paper, scissors, buffing cloths, floor coverings, extension cords, surge protectors, wax transfer examples.
Kit Fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes: 3 Clay board panels
