Uncommon Objects in Fringe Form Jewelry $140
Susan Lenart Kazmer
Student Level: all (prior knowledge of jewelry tools and using them helpful)
Type of Workshop: Process and Project

I love to imitate the raw, worn look many ancient pieces emulate. Jewelry and adornment that caught my attention at the field museum were primitive works from Borneo and the Aborigine of Australia . What I admired most were the beautiful wraps of exposed materials that seemed to give me insight into past cultures. In my own work, I love using exposed string, ribbon and found objects in part because of its reputation as being taboo and impractical but also because it conveys a look I desire. In this workshop we challenge the shape, form and inclusion of material with metal to create the fringe form. Rings, pendants etc.

Supplies provided by instructor include: metal disc forms, silver wire, head pins, materials to choose from, ribbons, paper.
