Those Blooming Encaustics $120
Cory Celaya
Student level: Beginner
Type of workshop: This is a 2 part workshop, part one is process (though most will finish a project).  Part two is project, a ready to wear encaustic necklace.

Nothing says it better than flowers, especially when they are created for display or better yet when they can be worn.  With a bit of imagination, the help of colored wax, thermal tools, and lots of student teacher interaction, each student will produce six or more ready to frame encaustic paintings and a pendant necklace of blooming encaustics.

Embellishment suggestions and a brief demonstration on how to "faux patina" a wire wrapped bead will be offered. Because of the limited time factor, you may or may not finish embellishing your necklace. Those of you who wish to embellish will need to bring the following items: Jewelry tools (needle nose pliers, round nose pliers, and a wire cutter) a spool each of gold and silver color 20 gage craft wire (craft stores or Wal Mart), 40 or 50 medium size jump rings (no split rings), a snack size zip lock baggie filled with assorted size beads in your choice of colors, and/or small charms (no plastic beads please). I will have a small community bead pile for you to rummage through...please help me out and donate to the pile.

Kit fee of $25 payable to instructor at class time includes: 6-4x6 paper substrates, 6-8x10 mounting paper stock, mounting tape, 3- 4 ½x5 ½  colored liner stock, encaustic wax in several colors, 1 template, 2 patterns, 24” medium weight ball chain, jump rings, clasp attachment, 2x2” metal frame with glass, and 2 class overview handouts.

Supplies provided by the teacher :  5 encaustic irons  to be shared, encaustic wax  to be shared, extra paper substrates for practice, a thermal stylus to be shared, paper napkins, towels, Kleenex, skewer sticks, Q-tips,  and jewelry tools to be shared.
