This is a 6 hour workshop taught in two 3 hour evenings.
Experience the potential of acrylic gels to create interesting surface textures and paints to create visual textures on paper and canvas (your own and/or the paper provided). You will use all manner of simple objects like plastic forks, plastic canvas, gutter screening, etc. to produce a myriad of designs. Once dry, Donna will demonstrate a variety of painting techniques using acrylics and metallics - so you’ll get a bit of color theory to boot! Each technique will be done a separate sheet so you will end up with a stack of technique sheets that you can make into a booklet or even a wall hanging.
Kit Fee of $12 payable to instructor at class time includes: 12 sheets each of 9 x 12” watercolor paper and canvas, texture gels, and use of instructor’s supplies.
Supplies provided by instructor include: matte medium, gesso, muslin, a variety of tools for stamping and printing, Golden Fluid Acrylic paints, colored and pastel pencils, oil pastels, water-soluble crayons, letter stencils, and whatever else ends up in my paint box!
Supply List:
Palette (at least 9 x 12, disposable paper palette pad is recommended)
Brushes: 1” and 2-3” inexpensive bristle brushes; #6-10 round and/or flat synthetic
Brayer
Painting or palette knife
Spray bottle
Heat gun
Container for water
Paper towel
Optional:
Acrylic paints in colors of your choice, rubber stamps, gel medium
If you think you may want to work on the construction of your technique sheets into a book or wall hanging, bring whatever tools/supplies you will need. This step could also be completed at home.
