This is a process class where we will be doing exercises in our journals designed to lead us to a higher level in all of our art creation. We will create backgrounds, borders, collaged images, experiment with monoprint, water soluable crayons, stencil, stamps and stamp pads, gel pens, sumi ink and sumi paper and various inks and gel mediums. We will make pages of letter forms and discuss composition. Finally we will discuss how the journal can guide us in our lives to define and reach our goals. Each student will leave the class with a many journal pages filled with new techniques and inspiration. There will also be a class chapbook that goes beyond what we can do in a day.
Kit Fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes: A spiral bound all-inclusive class booklet, sumi ink, sumi paper, collage sheets, crackle medium, waxed paper, various tools to use and return including pens, water soluable crayons, stencils, stamps, stamp pads, sponges, style sheets

acrylic paint (cheap bottles of craft paint are fine)
brushes - lots of sizes & cheap ones are okay
matte medium
gesso
uni-ball signo UM-153 white pen
gel pens in colors
pencils
your favorite pens or writing tools
sandpaper
