Webster’s dictionary states that to affirm means to assert positively. As creators of art, we need to affirm and embrace the fact that we are indeed artists. This workshop helps each participant take a journey of affirmation. It will start with a guided process of pre-workshop questions, so that the participant can come with items that have positive personal significance. And this insight will continue in the workshop while each participant creates an affirmation tower.
To create the tower, participants will build the frame work, decoupage and collage the structure. Next, using their selected colors, texture, symbols, and images that are the result of the pre-workshop process the participants will embellish their towers.
The tower has three chambers. Each chamber will signify a different part of the affirmation.
The top chamber represents the self, the light of the affirmation. Each participant will create a faux candle, the flame will be created by LEDs and software designed specifically for this project. This allows for safe “candle” light.
The middle chamber will hold a mini book about the people or ideas who/ that inspire. Each participant will make their own mini book and add their images, symbols, and key words for inspiration and affirnation.
The bottom chamber will be for daily affirmations, which contain relevant quotes and/or activities that keep us on a positive path enjoy our role as an artist. Each participant will make a tiny chest that will contain mini scrolls of mighty words and ideas which can help the artist think positively.
After the workshop, this 9-inch high tower, can be put in the artist’s studio or special place to remind them how special they are.
Supplies provided by Instructor include: glues, wax, brushes for glue, and additional items and to add to what ever the participant brings.
Kit Fee of $20.00 payable to Instructor at class time includes: a tower kit, light kit, materials to create the basic structure. Each participant will receive before the workshop mini-Journal to create their own personal supply list. At the workshop each participant will receive an Affirmation Journal. This Journal will also include the workshop procedures. Additional quotes, ideas, exercises to support the journey.
