Watercolor On Wax - Paper Batik Collage

In the tradition of Batik on Fabrics, students will experiment with their own hand-dyed Batiked paper using stamps as tools for the resist, and  following the original dye layer method of regular Batik using wax. The focus of this workshop is color and form working in harmony. Tap the free roots of play with color while learning form and function in composition with fabulous results. After several papers are created implementing many different color and image layer techniques, students will create their own collage on a paper mache' surface.
A Kit Fee of $8.00 is payable to the instructor at class time. (kit includes the paper mache object to be collaged).
Supply List:
Basic tool kit, heat tool, scissors, a couple of large foam m eat trays (without any textured bottom), 2 big mop brushes, plastic gloves if you do not want to get your hands dirty, and a pack of Xerox/inkjet printer paper.
Optional : solid stamps or stamps with a heavy outline – no fine detail.
*While class methods are developed to not make this too messy, sloppy clothes are suggested or a smock covering. *
