Annie has been obsessively painting in books for years developing her own patinas, deconstructing icons and stories into mysterious meaning in painted books. These faces are meticulously designed into powerful diaphanous layers. Grgich's complex heads look carved with embedded features and surfaces are built into intense detailed mosaic-like collages.

An unforgettable experience, Anne will also bring examples of her books, give a short slide show of the last 20 years of book making, you will leave with your own personable books.

Annie teaches unconventional art methods that help people find symbolism, ritual beauty, decay, love, sacrifice, power object, and place and put together imaginative pictures, poems, or create a surrealistic journal, a rare palimpsest-like ancient visionary painting, book object.

She demonstrates her methods & unconventional practices to create jewel-like effects. Annie's "action painting" is an infectious style of book art made in multiples, ripping through art history books and painting in an assembly line fashion.

In the class you can start 2 books, gradually working on all at once, and Annie will bestow upon you choice materials, as well bring your own paints, brushes, gels, and various collage items. Grgich lives to turn recycled graphics into her own books of unwritten powerful imagery. Make a book of personal iconography or patterning, family album, or turn old memorabilia into new art.

Her unusual book technique of transparent layering and decoration into richly colored deep portraits cutouts to create depth overlaid with varnish and glues and various waxes.

Supply List:

Bring an old book, and I'll have enough to go around as well, any collage materials, paints or glues, Gel Medium, Photos, Letterings, objects.

I'll bring a huge trunk filled with many collage, wall paper books and things to add as well to inspire your work.

If you bring nothing at all, you will still be provided with many materials and a book - and I bring paints, brushes various glues and collages materials. I will have pre set items for each class.
