The double decker stone setting creates the most unusual ring! The top stone creates an accent top for the bottom stone. The ring band is adjustable so you can wear it on any finger and the ring doesn't tarnish because it's made from Argentium sterling silver. In this one-day work shop learn the following skills:
How to anneal metal
Soldering Argentium silver
Stone setting a cabochon stone
Drilling a hole through a stone
Connect the stones together by riveting the top bezel to the bottom setting using round wire
Creating an adjustable band
How to work with Argentium Silver
Texturing metal
Using a reciprocating hammer to set stones

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

  • Torches, flex shafts, key for flex shaft, bench pin and clamp for each student, small bowl for liver of sulfur, flux brush, torch fuel, steel sheets for protection, cookie sheets, rawhide mallet, polishing machine with 3M buffs, paper towels, copper tongs, ring mandrels, punch, solder pick, solder stations, ring bending pliers, bowl for water, ring gauges, solder shears, shallow dish for water drilling, solder tweezers, third hands, ball pin hammers, curved bezel pushers, steel anvils, tweezers, metal rulers, needle file sets, and extra tools for late registrants to use during class.
  • Joyce Chen scissors, flat file, punches, drill bits, texture hammers, R Hammer handpiece, round nose pliers, needle nose pliers, #54 drill bit, metal rulers, diamond tip burs, flat punches.

Student should bring:

  • 25mm x 20mm or smaller cabochon stone
  • 3mm cabochon stone to go on top of other stone
  • flat bastard file
  • safety glasses
  • flush cutters
  • needle nose pliers
  • flat nose pliers
  • fine tipped permanent marker
