Learn how to use your favorite mixed media art techniques on a different surface...a ceramic plate! We'll explore ways to make various types of ceramic glazes behave in a similar way to how acrylic paints and inks can be used in traditional mixed media art forms. We'll use tools such as stencils, stamps, Gelli plates, texture rollers, paper masks, fine tipped writer bottles and palette knives to achieve a wide variety of looks. If you are new to ceramics, you'll also get an introduction to this wonderful medium and learn how you can continue with this exciting art form after Art Unraveled ends. The projects will be fired off campus and returned to you 1 to 2 days after class.

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

  • $15.00 includes:
  • 1 12"x12" bisque plate (additional plates will be available for purchase for $7 each)
  • Project firing
  • Use of supplies: Glazes and underglazes, Glaze brushes, Stencils, Stamps, Miscellaneous mark making and texturizing supplies, Masking tape
