Is it just me, or have you also noticed that the scrap books for sale at most of the craft stores, while technically functional, are less than awe inspiring visually? Well, in this course students will create a magnificent 12"x12" all-copper scrapbook that is a truly "weighty" experience both to look at and hold, and will be a most worthy container of the treasures to be contained within its covers. The all-metal binding of this scrapbook is designed to hold 50-100, and maybe more, of the standard sized, 3-hole, plastic scrapbook sleeves, but will hold any stack of paper, 12"x12". While constructing this impressive book, students will learn several metal fabrication techniques such as cutting, drilling, punching, sanding, engraving, and bending metal, as well as glass cutting, the artistic and absolutely abstract altering of copper sheet metal with a torch and various patina techniques, some basic hardware and tool operations, wire-wrapping found objects, turning a transparency into a faux tin type, and more! Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):
