Join me in this techniques/project workshop for a relaxing format in acrylic painting on a sized paper background. We'll use paper, medium and paint to bring out a beautiful rendition of a still life. I love Matisse's apples and decided to complete these apples in a setting to mimic his style. Printed antique pages will be the background for your work. Learning to paint on a dry, medium prepared background is quite different from painting on a regular canvas. Our objective will be to paint the still life apples in a transparent manner, enabling the print to peak through the apples. This will not only give your piece character, but make it interesting in a painterly style. If you've never painted in any form, or not in acrylic, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easily you'll learn the process. I believe everyone can learn to paint and be creative, it simply is a process that takes the ability to want to learn, as with reading. You'll complete your piece on an 8" x 10" canvas. I'll instruct in the application of a wet medium to dry surface, acrylic painting, transferring of a pattern, freehand drawing, and application of highlights and shadows.
