Who is in charge? Your head or your deeper wisdom...your intuition? Let me guide you away from too much control, self-doubt and imposed limits into the world of free expression. Let go of perfectionism, be brave, challenge yourself, and make up your own rules. The mind-set of spontaneity will be emphasized, but we will discuss principles of design as tools. In the morning and after lunch you will be guided through quick instructions to compose the painting surface…with little time to question yourself you will be innovative. Then you will set up your own boundaries and directions and create another painting. Some will end up with finished paintings and others will find resolutions and insights later. Everyone will learn spontaneity in not in the head, but the heart.

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

• plastic room keys
• vine charcoal
• rubbing alcohol
• the use of stencils, oil pastels, ink pencils, some extra paint and a package of collage materials.

Student should bring:

• Any acrylic paint (minimum of 3 colors of your choice plus black and white)
• a 1 1/2" or large brush
• palette
• water container
• pencil
• pen
• smock
• latex gloves
• 4 painting surfaces approximately 15x22
• painting panels
• boards, or 1/2 sheets of watercolor paper
