Come learn the fun, easy, and relaxing art of locker hook fiber art, and make a journal to take home. To keep things easy for beginners, we will be using fabrics only in class, but after each student has the opportunity to do this, the use of other fibers such as yarns, ribbons, lace, fancy fibers, twine, etc. will be shown for future reference, since this since can become a bit of an addiction! See samples in class of other projects you could easily do with your new skills. If you are a person with lots of fibers that are waiting for a project to be in, this is a great way for using at least part of your stash! You don't have to start with new fabrics. Lots of demos, guided practice and one to one assistance will be provide as needed. Be prepared to be inspired.

• prepped canvas so you can jump right in and get started
• felt scraps for embellishments
• buttons in a variety of sizes and colors
• embroidery floss
• elastic closure
• glue
• loaner needles

Student should bring:

• fabric scissors
• a total of 1 1/2 yards of 44" wide high thread count fabric* such as quilting cotton, precut into 1 inch strips cut with the grain of the fabric, not on the bias.
• a total of 3/8 yard of 44" wide high thread count fabric* such as quilting cotton, precut into 1/2 inch strips cut with the grain of the fabric, not on the bias.
• * These fabrics may be mixed or matched to your liking, so bring any number of colors. The 1/2 inch strips will be the under layer of the hooking, and may show a tad, so if they coordinate with the other yardage, that is ideal. Fabrics such as batiks, gingham checks, dyed or solid color fabrics with color on both sides are strongly recommended for beginners rather than printed fabrics that are white on the back. • 1 piece of felt that coordinates with the *1 inch fabrics you choose, precut to 6X11 inches.
• 6 -8 pieces of heavy cardstock, bristol, or watercolor paper precut to 5 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches.
