Dramatizing Depth Tuesday August 2, 9:00 AM
Caroline Jasper $145
This is a 6 hour workshop.

Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Acrylic Painting
Prerequisite:

Create dramatic visual impact! Art is theater. Without the drama, we get bored. Learn to implement a wide range of artists' proven methods for enhancing the illusion of form and distance on a flat surface. Advance your seeing-like-an-artist perception. Learn the truth about real vs. wheel color and master advanced color interactions. Give life to layers of depth in your work.

Concepts taught apply to any media/subject/style. Results may be more or less realistic, according to individual preference.

The workshop begins with conquering the nitty-gritty of how artists' colors actually work beyond color wheel theory. Using a novel way to analyze subjects, edit and plan compositions, students are then guided through implementing visual push vs. pull strategies in the first painting. The second part of the workshop is a free-for-all, put-your-own-spin on what you've learned. Paintings then become quite personal and thus advance from "project" to ART!

One on one instruction emphasized. Take home advanced color mastery, a slew of painters' depth illusion tricks, and your own depth-dynamic masterpieces.
