Niche/Shrine using Metal Embossing Techniques

Price: $125

Beckah Krahula

In this all day class learn the art of Metal Embossing and create a beautiful metal covered frame. Metal embossing is the art of achieving high and low relief on specialty laminated metals. This project is created with a double sided tin using the techniques and skills used for centuries by Iconists, Jewelers, and metal smiths. Metal embossing is adaptable to many mixed media projects. Discussions and examples for using the techniques learned in class on artist books, shrines, altered books, cigar boxes, collages, wearable art, art dolls, and dozens of other project ideas will be covered. The flexibility of the metal allows the artist to form it in many dimensions and combine it with endless materials. A variety of Patinas will be offered with instruction for their use to create contrast, definition, and highlights to finished pieces.

$20 kit fee payable to instructor at class time includes the wooden frame, metal tools, metal, and mirror.
