Kathy Cano Murillo

Kathy Cano Murillo has parlayed her love of crafts and crafting into a successful career. In addition to her full time position as a features reporter for the Arizona Republic newspaper, Kathy's column Crafty Ideas is carried by Gannett News Service and runs weekly in 50 papers throughout the United States . Kathy appears weekly on Arizona Midday, a women's TV show, where she shares her DIY ideas. She will star on DIY network's DIY Jewelry Making Show this summer and Uncommon Threads this fall.

An award winning author, her books include Making Shadow Boxes and Shrines , La Casa Loca: Latino Style Comes Home , The Crafty Diva's Lifestyle Makeover Book , and to be released in the fall - Crafty Chica's Art de la Soul . Her Crafty Diva's DIY Style Book was chosen as one of the best books for teens in 2004 by the New York Public Library. She has been featured in many other books and publications such as Mary Englebreit's Home Companion, Sunset and Collage for the Soul. Her latest literary endeavor is a novel titled The Crafty Chica Chronicles .

In addition to her newspaper and book writing accomplishments, Kathy was selected by Buena Vista Home Entertainment to design and create 60 hand painted boxes for cast and media gifts for the feature film, Frida. She also has a line of Hispanic themed wallpaper borders and accessories for kids available in 1,000 Lowe's Home Improvement Stores across the U.S.
