In this full day class, participants will create a miniature glass covered book with a leather spine. Techniques covered in this class are:
Transferring onto glass
Creating transfers that are translucent and/or opaque to create depth in collage
Creating texture and a finished collage cover using metallic powders
Using Inks and glass paints
Soldering
Creating your own leather dyes so that the spines work with the covers
New binding technique that uses fabulous fibers to create a woven binding on the leather spine
$15 kit fee payable to instructor at class time includes: Glass, transfers, solder, leather, and fibers for binding
Supply List: Fiskars soft touch scissors for metal, Flat Bastard File, Lint Free Towel, ½" or 1" foam Brush, and Ruler, Scissors, Craft Knife, Cutting Surface, 2 Soft Watercolor Brushes (one ½" and one detail), Glue Brush, Notebook and Pencil,½" to 1" White Nylon Brush, Houston Art Sanding Disc (400 grit), Houston Art Super Sanding Disc (1500 grit)
