In this class, we'll explore using unstretched and unprimed canvas as our art surface. Working with the frayed edges of the canvas, we'll be creating a look that appears found, like remnants from long ago. We'll learn how to create mono-prints using acrylic paints and waxed paper, gesso transfers, and other exciting ways to enhance our collage creations. The unstretched canvas is perfect for adding sewn on elements, fringe, buttons and other embellishments. Yum!

Supply List: Please try to bring as many of the items as you can as it will enhance your workshop experience, About 3 tubes of your favorite acrylic colors, Your favorite glue, I like to use Golden's Regular Gel Matte, 1 yard of unstretched and unprimed canvas, you can purchase this at the art supply or fabric stores. It is usually called cotton "duck" canvas., Paint brushes about 2 or 3, any size. Buy cheap brushes if you don't have these already; sponge brushes will also work too., Xacto knife or scissors, A few Xerox and color copies of old family photos and images you like. NOTE: Bring a variety of images in a variety of shapes and sizes., A needle and thread, while we won't be sewing (unless you want to), it's sometimes nice to add the odd button etc. Also bring any buttons or beads or anything you might like to add by sewing into the canvas., Bring something to use as a water jar - old cup, old jar or paper cup, etc., Some waxed paper or paper plates to use as a palette for your paints, Heat gun or a hairdryer - I will have one for everyone to share, A roll of paper towels as the venue might not have enough for everybody

NOTE: When I demonstrate, I will be using Golden's Acrylic Paints because I find them superior to other paints. However, feel free to bring paints that you already own. If you choose to buy Golden paints, before going to the store, I recommend checking out the Golden web site to familiarize yourself with all the different types of paints they offer. www.goldenpaints.com . You can find Golden's paints at your local Michael's Craft Store or art supply store.
