Explore the vast possibilities resins have to offer in jewelry and in combination with metalwork. Learn proper application and safety tips. This hands on workshop offers many ground breaking techniques from filling silver hollow bezel forms with photo text and layering transparent materials to creating colorful stone like textures from organic material such as sand, pepper and crushed powders. Be introduced to using resins on flat or domed metal objects and filling recesses and casting objects by building a mold. Students will complete a collection of elements, build a mold and take home endless ideas for this technique. Sources for bezels and resin products.
$22 Kit fee payable to instructor at class time includes - 3 handmade sterling silver bezels, 6 manufactured brass bezels, resins, organic materials, wire, etc.
Supplies: Please bring needle nose pliers, chain nose pliers, wire (20 or 18 gauge), metal files, or sand paper, jewelers saw, wire snips, anvil, small objects, text, scissors, photos, etc.
Optional: A tube of rubber silicone (for casting), Found object bezel forms such as beer tops, small tins, coco metal lids etc..
