Free your creative spirit in this class working with transparent watercolors! Working abstractly, we'll play with salt, sand, bronzing powders, resists and lace and oriental papers. Students will work with a limited palette – “Pouring” colors into wet on wet washes with limited brushwork.

The final project for the class will be to create a soft cover concertina book utilizing our beautiful papers! Other uses for the abstract papers made in class include cards, backgrounds collages and even frameable paintings! Handouts for the class will be in a coil bound book with actual samples of the various techniques “tipped in”.

There is a $15 supply fee payable to instructor at class time for paints, pastels, bronzing powders and other misc. supplies

Supply List :

Cookie sheet or other shallow tray (IMPORTANT!)
Cheap watercolor brush – ¾” – 1” wide
2 water containers (about the size of a 1 lb. Cottage cheese container)
Pan watercolors or palette w/ tube colors (OPTIONAL – there will be some to share!)
3 22x30” sheets of cold press 140 lb. watercolor paper (Arches, Winsor-Newton and Fabriano are good brands)
Water bottle with sport top (full)
