Lisa Engelbrecht

Lisa Engelbrecht is a lettering artist and instructor at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California. Lisa created the Letter Arts Certificate program, the only two-year intensive calligraphy program in the country. This program was established by Larry and Marsha Brady 20 years ago. Previously Lisa was coordinator and faculty member in all areas of letter arts at California State University, Long Beach, in their Calligraphy Certificate program. Lisa now teaches workshops and classes around the country, specializing in lettering on fabric, experimental lettering and the creative process. Her work can be seen in many publications including The Calligrapher's Engagement Calendar, 1996-2004, Hand Lettering for Crafters 2001, Letter Arts Review Annual and the Proverbs calendar published by Avalanche.

Lisa is a frequent contributor to Somerset Studios magazine and was named one of the Women of Somerset in the Spring 2002 issue. The Fall 2003 issue of Legacy magazine featured a cover article of her work and her work will be featured in Lynne Perella's new book, Artful Journals.

One of Lisa's favorite pastimes is to participate in Chalk festivals around Southern California where large scale original works of calligrapy are executed using pastels.
