Creative Embellishments (The photos illustrate and example of the type of embellishments that will be taught, and their use in creating an Altered Journal Cover)
Can't find the perfect embellishment? Is your altered adornment rare, precious or fragile? Learn to make your own embellishments for your creations using polymer clay. These replicas are colorfast, waterproof and impervious to handling.
Learn to create replicas of artifact quality including rusted keys, ancient screw beads, faux pewter stampings, millefiori photo corners, broken borders, frames and more.
No previous experience with polymer clay is required. Learn quick and easy techniques using antique patinas, mold making (both rigid and flexible), faux Raku backgrounds, and gilded inlays to name a few.
Each student will make several re-usable molds to take home with them along with several finished embellishments and tons of tips for making economical and durable two and three dimensional elements for their artwork.
Skill level : All levels
Supply List: Pasta machine with a large "C" clamp, (my pasta machine will be available for use when not being used for demonstrations for anyone without a machine that doesn't mind sharing), 4-5 assorted colored blocks of polymer clay (Kato Poly Clay is recommended, Premo Sculpey is acceptable), a clay blade, needle tool or very fine knitting needle, small bottle of Armor All automotive protectant spray, 8" x 8" (or larger) smooth ceramic tile, X-acto type craft knife, black dye based ink pad, and baby wipes.
Lisa will provide pigment powders, foils, assorted stamps, patinas, texture plates, clay, self-vulcanizing molding compound, assorted cutters to work with, a baking oven, and handouts.
