An eclectic collage workshop designed to push your creativity to a new level. In this fast-paced workshop you will develop a series of "fusion-dyed" collages layered with color, words, letterforms and symbols. Create beautiful, transparent papers blended with treasured personal images that incorporate paper staining and dyeing techniques. Explore building layers of texture with stencils, painted stamped patterns and accents of written words/phrases. You will leave with a stack of handmade collages.great to use in ATCs, altered art, books and journals. Look for my fusion-dyed collage article in the upcoming Issue #3 of cloth paper scissorsT!
A $15 materials fee will be payable to instructor at class time .
Supply List: Scissors, Pen/Pencil, Elmer's Glue, Bone folder, Golden Soft Gel Medium Glossy, Roll of 2-ply paper towels or napkins, 2" flat paintbrush (you can find @ hardware store for $1), 1" foam brush, Painting apron/smock
Optional Supplies to enhance your project: Collage ephemera- dictionary pages, maps, images, napkins & tissues with interesting prints. Black and white xerox copies of enlarged words, photos, writing, journal pages and personal images. (I will also provide some collage images), unmounted or foam stamps/alphabet stamps with deeply etched designs (I will have plenty to share).
Things that the student might want to do before arriving in preparation for the workshop: Think about theme(s) for your pieces: bring words, quotes and phrases to use in your artwork.
