This mother and daughter-in-law team has been close friends for over fifteen years. They not only share a love for Marylin’s oldest son, but also are both passionate about art. Tracie Lyn Huskamp holds a B.F.A. in Graphic Design with an emphasis in Fine Art. She works as a Product Designer/Illustrator creating mass-market products. A number of her designs have sold in retail stores such as Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s Crafts, Lowe’s, and Walgreen’s. One of her products was even featured on the television show, Extreme Home Makeover. But, it is her passion for mixed media and collage that fuels the fires of her creative spirit, and continues to lead her on a wondrous journey of artistic and self-discovery. Always striving for the perfect balance and integration of elements and processes in every piece, Tracie enjoys making art that is thoughtful, intricate, and beautiful. Tracie’s mixed media work has received both regional and national recognition. Her art was published on the cover along with a feature article in the Somerset Studio July/August ‘07 issue. She also appeared in the premier issue of Somerset Memories, as well as Somerset Wedding 3, Somerset Summer Gallery ‘07,Somerset Home ‘07, Somerset Artful Blogger ‘07, Somerset Altered Couture Winter 07, as well as having feature articles in Cloth Paper Scissors July/August ‘07 issue, Quilting Arts ’07 Holiday Issue, and a feature article in Fiber & Stitch Web Zine Premier Issue. Marylin Huskamp is a self-taught artist, who has a love of mixed media and fibers. She has worked with these mediums in various ways for over 40 years. Her passion began when she started making dolls. It has since evolved into composing beautiful works of art through fiber fusion, fiber dyeing and painting. She carefully blends ribbons, lace, yarns, fabrics, buttons, and other ephemera to capture the viewer through her use of vibrant colors and interesting textures. She is constantly experimenting to find new and interesting ways to achieve greater depth in her pieces. Marylin participates in a number of art shows throughout the Mid- West, Pacific, and Southern regions of the country. Her work has been featured in a Mid-West retail store specializing in home decor. Her art can also be seen in Somerset Belle Amore September ‘07 issue, Somerset Altered Couture Winter ‘07, Cloth Paper Scissors May/June and July/August ‘07 issues, and a feature article in Fibre&Stitch Web Zine Issue 3.
