As a mixed media artist, I use painting, collage, and found objects. Layering texture and color in an intuitive manner, I attempt to weave a visual history. My goal is to provide a mysterious and intriguing surface, engaging the viewer. Collage and assemblage allow me to explore of a wide range of subjects while allowing the viewer to connect with the art work, inventing their own story. It is especially delightful to me when someone arrives at the meaning of a piece by a totally different route than the one I traveled while creating the work. I have a sinfully large number of bins containing all manner of found object ‘treasures’. To me, they are precious bits of times gone by with a beauty all their own. My goal is to elevate these ordinary objects, often thought of as trash, to a new level. Words are especially appealing to me and much of my work is inspired by books and poetry. Working in a series as it allows me to communicate my concept in various ways. Currently, I am exploring the subject of a Woman’s Worth based on Marianne Williamson’s book of the same name. Other series-in-progress include Home, Trees, and Windows. Email: artaddict@comcast.net |
