Using different Polaroid cameras, I'll show you how to easily and instantly create special effects, including double exposures, manipulations, and "in the field" emulsion transfers. Class will start with discussing the different types of cameras and their unique features. Then after shooting and trying different techniques, there will be more demonstrations including hand coloring the polaroids. I love Polaroid cameras because they give you instant photographs without the need for any other equipment. They are a wonderful tool for instant documentation and for capturing your personal vision. The cameras we will be using are the Spectra, SX-70, Land Cameras (that use peel-apart film), and 600. You'll leave class with unique photos to use in your artwork and the knowledge of how to do this later on your own. This class also gives you the opportunity to try out different Polaroid cameras before making any investment. There is a $20 materials fee to cover the various Polaroid films, and I'll supply the cameras, hand coloring and manipulation materials to use in class. . Optional Supplies: Any polaroid camera you would like to play with. If it's not one that I will have, you will need to bring film for it.
