Altered Photo Quilt
Date: Thursday, August 26, 2004
Time: 9am – 4:30pm
Instructor: Karen Michel
Cost: $110

This class will explore the process of altering regular 35mm photographs and then creating a photo “quilt” sewn together via eyelets and wires. This work of art can tell the story of adventures past, express the love of family, or tell your own personal story. The final piece will be ready to be mounted on the wall.

Supply List :

•  20 or more 35mm color photos (any size) obscure landscapes, images of people, blurry or out of focus (don't worry about it being a “good” photo)
•  Water based markers – Marvy Markers are best (brush tip)
•  Watercolor set (inexpensive cake set is fine)
•  acrylic gel medium (matte or semigloss) – I like to use Golden soft gel matte
•  Eyelets & eyelet setter – size, shape, colors are up to you
•  26 gauge wire (silver, copper or colored, the choice is yours)
•  1 pair of wire snips & 1 small pair of pliers
•  Small collage materials – text, images, poetry, etc. of your choice

Optiona l: (not required, but if you have ‘em, bring ‘em)

colored inks
stamp pads & ink pads
objects to integrate into the overall design of the work.
