ALTARed Books
Date: Saturday, August 23, 2003
Time: 9am - 1pm
Instructor: Kelly Kilmer
Cost: $90
Using old discarded books, we'll recycle them into Interactive works of art. Hidden pages, secret flaps, pull-tabs and altered pages are just some of the things we will do to these books! Paint, glue, collage and stamp to your heart's content. I'll pull up my sleeves and lay all of my cards onto the table to show you ALL of the magic tricks I know of transforming an old book into a work of ART. This is NOT the assemblage book class! They're two different classes entirely! Bring your book to the next level!
ALTAR it students should bring: black permanent pad, punch for eyelets, eyelet setter, small hammer, needle nose pliers, scissors, cork back metal ruler, bone folder, personal collage ephemera (though I'll also have a ton of stuff.)
Please bring a hardcover book that will hold a piece of 8 1/2 x 11" paper (folded in half) comfortably inside. It can be larger than that but not any smaller, please.
NOTE: Kelly generously provides materials for her workshops including top of the line art supplies from Golden, Newton Winsor and other well known art supply manufacturers, saving you the cost of buying paints, mediums, glazes, etc. Please refer to the individual workshop description for the tools you will need to bring to class.
