A Journal for the Journey is a creative mix of canvas meets paper. This creative folio-style journal boasts a surprise...not just one, but two sewn signatures. One features black paper and the other mixed media paper. One signature is sewn into the top flap and the other into the center of the open journal. The finished journal is 12 x 8.5 closed and 19 x 12 open. Both sides are painted with a variety of acrylic paints and collaged with color images, ribbons, printed twill, metal button closures, twine, oil pastels and the edges of the journal are finished with over 20 eyelets! Students will leave with a completed project! A 5 hour workshop taught over two evenings.
Supply List: Scissors, glue stick, ruler, pencil, SMALL book awl, white crayon, 4 oz. tube of Burnt Umber and 4 oz. tube of Raw Sienna acrylic paint (Liquitex Basics or other cheap tube brand), 3 cheap chip paint brushes (about 1 to 2 inches), one medium size foam brush, oil pastels (cheap brand), 1/8" hole punch, 15 small binder clips, heat gun and extension cord, a washcloth in a zip lock baggie
Recommended: small personal paper cutter, Japanese Screw Punch with 1/8" tip, Vintage photos will be provided, but if you want to customize your journal feel free to bring copies of your own photos
All other supplies and written instructions will be provided by the instructor. Please bring all materials listed above.
