Tin Men Wednesday $130 Thomas Ashman 9:00 - 4:30 Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project
Of all the characters in The Wizard of Oz, Tin Man was always my favorite with his gentle heart so beautifully belied by his hard, rusty exterior. In this class, students bring a porcelain doll head and hands of their liking, and create their very own tin man. Instruction is given in altering the doll head with texturizing spray paints, two-part resin clay, metallic surfacing agents, torch techniques, and the application of chemical patinas as well as various sheet metal fabrication techniques, including slip-rolling, punching, cutting, drilling, cold-connection hardware, as well as basic torching & altering of copper & brass with torches & patina.
