Choose a favorite photograph of yourself at any age and we will turn that photograph into a stencil master that can be combined with collage and used in many ways on a variety of projects. We will each cut our own stencil, then create a painted and collaged background for it. We will discuss how to determine if a particular photograph will make a good stencil, how to make the best cuts, the use of negative and positive space in a composition and how to make our compositions pop. A final layer of beeswax and resin will be added to each piece.  

Kit Fee of $15 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
Supplied wax and brushes
Prepared stencils from student photographs
Black spray paint
Stippling sponges
Collage packets
Tracing paper
Class handouts  

Supplies provided by Instructor for student’s use in class includes:
Safe spray box to use outdoors
Blow pens and blow tubes
Additional stencils  

Supply List:
-Photographs of yourself to make into stencils (let me choose between 3) IMPORTANT: you must e-mail your photographs to me 2-3 weeks before the class so I can have the stencil ready for you. I will still be demonstrating how to prepare the photographs on the computer but to save time I will have your stencil all ready for you to cut.
-1-8x10 stretched canvas, canvas board or piece of wood, any thickness
-1 sheet 8x10 watercolor paper
-Small ruler
-Container for water
-Acrylic paints
-A good selection of brushes
-Small scissors
-Gel medium
-Pencil
-Stabilo black watercolor pencil
-Exacto knife with #11 blade
-Interesting paper for collage, several pieces with small images to cut out
-Paper with small patterns, several kinds, several sheets
-Drying gun (opt.-only a few needed to share)
