Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Process

Once, while walking by a stream bed, a random twinkling caught my eye. As I pulled the glittery object up and I realized it was the sun’s reflection on a stone. A Beautiful, delicate matrix of hematite flowed randomly through this stone and visible layers of minerals provided a map to how this piece was once composed then hardened. It was beautiful. I laughed inside when I realized that to a jeweler this stone would not even be considered a “B” grade.

In this hands on workshop learn to incorporate personal stones and treasures as objects in jewelry. Using cold join techniques and layers of sheet metal, build a variety of metal structures and unique bezels forms to capture objects in your work. New Techniques include free form staples, wire prongs, new riveting ideas. This is a wonderful workshop for anyone interested in expanding their metals skills.
