Student Level: Everyone!
Type of Workshop: Project

This bag is perfect way to carry your journals and all those crazy writing tools. You’ll begin with heavy weight canvas, an old brush and paints! Painting the canvas with acrylic paints and gesso will start this adventure - we’ll play, swirl, twirl and scratch bright colors onto the canvas. While this dries, the fun of hand lettering begins. I will only show you the easiest ways to write on fabric and the best tools to use -however even your own handwriting (or scribbling) will do. WHAT you write on your bag is important-creating meaningful personal text and accessing the eloquence of others with inspiring quotes will help us to create a work of art to hang on our shoulder. You can easily sew this bag by hand, enclosing the strap to your desired length, and embellish with tassels, trim and beads. No previous experience in any of the above techniques is necessary. It may be even better if you have no experience at all-to be a total beginner!

Materials Fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
Some acrylic inks to sample
Metallic powders
Gesso etc., and much more
