Digital Collage PJ Party Thursday Evening
$65

  Mike Jennings 6:30 - 9:30

Student Level: Advanced intermediate who has taken Dynamic Digital Collage
Type of Workshop: Project

You've taken the Dynamic Digital Collage workshop, and now you want a chance to use what you've learned to do your own project while having a Photoshop expert handy when you get stuck? Good news, you're not alone! Come join us this evening. Bring your own elements, use my scanner if you still need to, and play in Photoshop. When you run into snags, I'll be there to help. Use my printer to print out your digital collage at the end of the evening if you like. This will help you retain everything you learned in your day class and have a great time in a comfortable playtime environment. Additionally, you'll receive a fat handout with the Photoshop columns I've written that explain many tools and techniques that I'm not touching on in my other class, as well as detailed write-ups of those that I did cover.

Optional kit fee of $50 payable to Instructor at class time for a CDROM with a handpicked selection of 14 unusual typefaces that I have discovered to be uniquely suited to digital collage. The fonts on this disc, bundled at a reduced price just for this class by the foundry, will add a distinct element of sophistication and finish to your pieces no matter how you use them, and I will be using them in the class examples. All of the kit fee goes directly to the type foundry.

Supplies provided by Instructor for student’s use include:
A printer and paper stock
A scanner
Several articles I've written about Photoshop tools and techniques for reference
Juice and cookies

Supply List:
Same as "Dynamic Digital Collage," namely:
- A laptop or other computer (Mac or Windows is fine). (I will have an extra or two, but you'll need to contact me in advance.)
- A mouse for your laptop
- Photoshop CS2 or later (the Extended version is not necessary but works if that's what you've got). If you don't already have it, see Photoshop Notes below.
- You should scan a few physical collage elements. I will have a scanner but it will save time if you can scan them at 300dpi before class. Less time scanning means more time collaging. I will have some sample collage elements that you can work with if you don't bring enough.

Photoshop Notes:
If you do not already have Photoshop, you can download a trial version for free from Adobe. Note that it expires after 30 days so wait until just before the class before installing it. Students can purchase Photoshop for $300 instead of the $650 retail price (most sellers require a student ID).
