  Gentry and Kollasch Friday 9:00 - 4:30

Student Level: Intermediate
Type of Workshop: Project

This is a 9 hour workshop taught on an Thursday evening and Friday.

Students will learn methods for creating multi-layered, mixed media paintings. Several techniques will be covered, including gel transfers, stenciling with plaster, glazing with various acrylic mediums, texturing with various tools and materials, and some collage techniques. During this workshop students will learn about a unique artmaking process that will help them tap into their creative subconscious, to work more intuitively, and to experiment as a way of developing new skills. This approach to artmaking will help students overcome some of the roadblocks that many emerging artists experience in relation to "performance anxiety." Students will learn a series of techniques that will keep them moving forward with their paintings, have more fun with their artwork, and get them more in touch with their intuition. This approach allows ones artwork to evolve, which is quite different from artwork that is planned out in advance.
