The Wonderful World of Color: Color Theory - WORKSHOP FILLED -

Kelly Kilmer

In this 6 hour long workshop, we will explore the language of color. Learn how to unlock the so called "secrets" of color theory. I will make it easy and fun while you learn how to mix color using acrylic paints. Learn new tips, tricks and techniques to make your colors pop and sing in your artwork. You'll realize you don't need every tube of paint out there, that by using a few select colors (seven to be precise!) , you can mix and make your own. Learn how to layer colors and how to avoid (and fix) "mud".

This is not a "project" class, as you will not be walking out with anything completely finished. Instead, you will have the knowledge (and several hand painted pages that YOU will create) to take the ideas out of class and to utilize them in your own artwork no matter *what* you create. This is a brand NEW, ultra fun class and one that my students have been requesting for a very long time. Please join me in this new multimedia workshop in which you will be exploring the use of color on you and your art. Extremely detailed twelve page handout included in class full of tips, techniques, tricks and more!

A sampling of some of the things that you will learn:

Let's put the FUN in the fundamentals of color theory-sure, you'll learn the "terms" (it's easy not hard) but let's learn how to mix color, create color (YES, you will learn how to create several of your own "Golden acrylic" colors including those expensive "Quinacridone colors"!), explore creating "flesh colors" (of all kinds), learn how to avoid and fix "mud", learn how colors work and play off of each other, and MORE. Explore NEW, fresh techniques and expand your color wheel while you're at it!

Supply List:
Pen or pencil for taking notes on the colors that YOU create
3 brushes to paint with (whatever brushes you feel comfortable painting with-I prefer a 1" bristle brush **NO foam brushes please**),
container to hold water in
roll of waxed paper
roll of paper towels,
an old rag.

Please feel free to bring a journal to "experiment" with any excess paint as desired. The instructor will be supplying an array of professional artist acrylics and mediums, and all necessary materials needed.
