We will be doing Polaroid Emulsion Transfers from our own self made transparencies, 4x6 photos, digital printouts and collages. We will use the Daylab CopySystem, which acts as a camera, projecting the image onto Polaroid Film. The film is then transferred to paper. Your final product will be a unique piece of art ready to matt and frame, embellish with collage or use in your altered books. The emulsion transfer is brighter than the image transfer and comes with a ready-made attitude and wavy edges you can manipulate to fit your subject and mood. The images are translucent and look mysterious layered over the written word (your written word or a book page) or even over an existing collage. Black and white images will give you a warm sepia transfer. In addition to your images, you can combine shallow objects like lace, keys or small statues to layer with other items to make an instant collage before transferring. The process will not damage your original image. Class size is limited to 12 students to enable individual support and use of the 2 Daylab Copy Systems. The class is process and product oriented. The process encourages having fun, doing instant collages that are not permanent. You will have the opportunity to make between 4-6 images, additional film may be purchased.
A Supply Fee of $10.00 is payable to instructor at classtime and includes: Notebook with instructions, tips and resources, receptor materials, supplies to make transparencies, film, hand coloring materials, rubber gloves, extra images to share.
