Pez Dispensing Totems - WORKSHOP FILLED -

In this workshop we will transform and modify a contemporary pop icon, the PEZ dispenser. They will be personalized using painting, drawing, collage and assemblage. Not only will they be transformed into personalized totems, they will also maintain their functionality as a candy dispenser; fine art with a treat. Small do-dads are essential (anything and everything), as are various collage elements. Though PEZ dispensers are figurative in nature, there is no obligation for the student to maintain that approach. Remember, whether these objects are abstract or representational is entirely up to the student...just as long as the candy still flows.

This is a project workshop and students will all leave with at least one completed project (perhaps more).

Supplies Provided by Teacher:

Power Tools
Basic Tools
Pez Dispensers
A plethora of found objects and dodads.

Supply List:

Scissors and cutting tools
Drawing tools- pens, pencils, pastels et
Brushes (acrylic) - smaller and detail
Acrylic Matte Medium – or any adhesive for collage
Paint (acrylic- small tubes): Black, White, Quinacridone Gold, Pthalo Green, and other basic colors
A few different kinds of glues- E 6000 and Liquid Nails original formula (red tab on label)
Small do dads, found objects, collage items and photos.

Bring various items that you would like to use on your shrine - this could be anything! - (jewelry, fake flowers, price tags, watch parts, shoelaces, fake eyelashes etc.) As I said, anything. Remember, smaller objects or items that can be broken down would be most appropriate . We'll have a communal pile of do-dads that students are willing to share with others in the class...so, looks like it's time to clean out those dresser drawers
