Luminous Collage $135

The student will learn how to paint a surface with luminous acrylic paints, then adhere collage elements with gel medium, and finally add a layer of oil paints for a remarkable, rich finished piece. You must experience this first hand to get the full impact of the process. This class is for people who love to explore new techniques and experiment!!! This is not a cookie cutter class. Each person’s creation is unique, no two are ever alike. Students will need to pack the finished product carefully if flying home, as the oils may not be completely dry for up to a week.

I will bring some extra ephemera and a few oil paints to share.

Supply List:
2 or 3, 2.1 oz. tubes of Pebeo Acrylic Paint from France (Can be bought from DickBlick.com) they all say Pebeo Extra Fine Acrylic DYNA in the description. My favorite colors are: gold-green, black-blue and orange-yellow.
OR
2-3 2.25 oz. Jars of Lumiere metallic acrylic paint found at your local art store
one container Golden Heavy Gel Medium, glossy or matte, your choice
2 or 3 tubes of regular oil paints, your favorite colors of course, or a small student set
scissors
one roll blue industrial strength paper towels found at Home Depot
a small collection of your favorite ephemera like vintage postcards, antique photos, old maps, old dictionary pages, cards, even color copies. What you usually use in your own creations
one small bottle linseed oil
small bottle baby oil
small bottle odorless turpenoid-ODORLESS ONLY!!!!
3 med size brushes
a few sheets of tissue paper
small baby food jar or similar, with lid
clean tuna can or similar,
a few sheets wax paper
3-5 gessoed surfaces
small 4 “ by 4” or 12” by 12”, or any size in between, your choice, like streached canvas, my favorite, or old cigar box lid, or MDF board cut into little pieces, found at Home Depot.
