A rainbow of hand-colored watercolor pages comprise the signatures of this Old World-style artist book. With its rustic covers, it is reminiscent of an aged, cracked relic you might find in the archives of another time. Beginning with a recycled book, you will replace the existing pages with the beautiful signatures you make, each saturated with color and perfect for collage, drawing, poetry, or jotting down your secrets.
For the outside covers, you’ll learn a texture technique utilizing paints and encaustic waxes, all splashed with a little metallic sheen to create a truly unique surface. Torn pockets on the inside covers are perfect for tucking away loose memorabilia… A soft leather spine with dangling beads and fibers binds this treasure together. The rest of its contents are up to you…
This workshop is quick-paced, allowing hands-on opportunity to explore the techniques shown, and also timed such that you should take home a completed book that will be a one of a kind work of your art. Spend a portion of class creating pages that will dazzle anyone who sees your book. Another portion of class will be devoted to making the covers, and sewing the spine and signatures.
