Inspired by the endlessly fascinating shape of the nautilus, these earrings are stylish, beautiful and easy to wear. In this class, we'll explore the inspirational shape of the spiral by making various one piece earring shapes, as well as a couple of half hoop earring styles, with ear wires. I'll show you how to create a perfect wire spiral that you'll want to incorporate into your other works. We'll embellish our nautilus-inspired shapes by wrapping them with beads using a wrap that’s a bit reminiscent of a nest; we’ll use round and rondelle shaped beads for this, as well as top-drilled briolette beads. This is a really beautiful and versatile wrap. We'll also make a wire half-hoop (one of my favorite styles!) as well as a textured metal half-hoop. Techniques covered are: wire shaping and wrapping, annealing and hardening metal, texturing metal, creating a perfect spiral, wrapping rondelle and/or round beads, wrapping top-drilled briolette beads, making perfect ear wires, drawing a bead on wire.
