Using copper Art clay, and a variety of wires, students will make unique jewelry. Students will learn to torch fire the clay and create a variety of dome shapes and charms. Clay techniques will be used to achieve texture, design and alternative connections. Students will also learn patinas to achieve patinas. Copper sheet will also be used in conjunction with this class.
Students will make many pieces of jewelry – both process and product as they can design their own jewelry or use my samples to work from
Materials/Kit fee of $45 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- Art Clay copper – enough for a set of jewelry
- Several pieces of copper sheeting – enough for several
- Copper wire - 20/18/26 gauges
- Parawire – colored and silver plated wire - 20/18/26 gauges
- Jump rings and optional findings
- Misc Beads and Embellishments
- Waxed linen for neck chain
- *Use of Torches, fuel and patinas
- *Use of all misc tools – sharing environment
- Anvil/bench blocks/Metal scissors/hammers/texturing hammers/hole punches/pliers and hand tools and all tools related to preparing the metal for use
What students should bring:
- Metal scissors or snips
- Personal bench block or Anvil if you can bring one
